CESAR L. VILLANUEVA is currently the Dean of the ATENEO DE MANILA LAW SCHOOL, and a Professorial Lecturer in Corporation Law and Sales.
He is also a Senior Partner at VILLANUEVA GABIONZA &DE SANTOS Law Offices.
He is the Chairman of the Commercial Law Department of the PHILIPPINE JUDICIAL ACADEMY (PHILJA), and a member of its Academic Council and Consultants Group.
He currently sits as a member of the Governing Board of the MANDATORY CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION (MCLE) of the Supreme Court, and is also a member of the Technical Panel for Legal Education of the COMMISSION OF HIGHER EDUCATION (CHED).
He is a Fellow of both the AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE ON COMPANY DIRECTORS (AICD), and the INSTITUTE OF CORPORATE DIRECTORS (ICD-Makati). He has authored the following books: PHILIPPINE CORPORATE LAW, LAW ON SALES and COMMERCIAL LAW REVIEW. He is a Senior Partner in the Law Firm of VILLANUEVA GABIONZA &DE SANTOS, 20/F 139 CORPORATE CENTER, 139 Valero Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City 1200. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Holy Angel University and an incumbent member of the Board of Directors of the Clark Electric Distribution Corporation.
Atty. Villanueva obtained his Accounting degree (B.S.C.) from HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY (magna cum laude) in 1977, and his Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B.) from ATENEO DE MANILA LAW SCHOOL (valedictorian, cum laude). He sat for the Philippine Bar Examinations in November,1981 Bar Examinations (placing 2nd), and the following May, 1982 took the CPA Board Examinations (placing 6th). He proceeded to take his Master of Laws (LL.M.) from HARVARD LAW SCHOOL at Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1989.
He was also Editor-in-Chief, Ateneo Law Journal (1980-81); Legal Consultant, Export Processing Zone Authority (1985-86); Member: Philippine Bar Association, Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants; Philippine Canine Club, Inc.; United Way, Philippines; Harvard Alumni Association; President, Rotary Club of Makati Ayala, RY 1996-1997; Honorary Member in the Association of Fellow and Legal Scholars of the Center for International Legal Studies; Member, Mimosa Golf and Country Club, Fontana Resorts, Capitol Hills Golf Club, and the Tower Club.
He authored PHILIPPINE CORPORATE LAW, COMMERCIAL LAW REVIEW, and LAW ON SALES. He also wrote HANDBOOK ON THE CORPORATE JURISDICTIONS OF THE RTC AND THE SEC, PHILIPPINE JUDICIAL ACADEMY (PHILJA), in partnership with USAID and The Asia Foundation.
